Meet Dr. Taghikhan

Headshot of Dr. Shahin Taghikhan wearing a suit and tie Dr Taghikhan is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with a fellowship in head and neck oncology and cancer surgery. He is very passionate about providing the best care possible for his patients. He wants them to feel comfortable about their surgery and to have a great experience during and after their visit to his office. Dr. Taghikhan’s broad exposure and extensive training in surgery, makes it possible for him to provide care for his patient’s in-house rather than having them travel to surgery centers or hospitals. He takes great pride in his work and nothing makes him happier than when patients have a comfortable and speedy recovery from surgery.

Dr. Taghikhan achieved his undergraduate bachelor’s degree in microbial biology at UC Berkeley and his doctorate in dental surgery from the University of the Pacific (UOP) in 2014. Following dental school, he finished his residency at University of California San Francisco – Fresno (UCSF-Fresno) in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He graduated at the top of his class in 2018. He pursued his passion for teaching and a took position as assistant professor at the University of Indiana Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residency program. He taught complex surgeries to new residents in oral surgery. He also found a talent for working with kids at the prestigious Cleft Lip-Palate and Craniofacial clinic in Riley Children’s Hospital system. Guiding parents of new born infants with cleft lip and palate deformities, all the way to their teenage years performing jaw surgeries to achieve the most ideal bite and facial esthetics. To further advance his surgical skills, he completed a one year fellowship in head and neck oncologic/ cancer surgery.

Dr. Taghikhan is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He belongs to a number of professional organizations: American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, California Dental Association.
When his son was born, he and his wife chose to move back to the bay area to be closer to family. His hobbies include travel, soccer, swimming and climbing. He loves hiking in the high sierras and hanging out with his family and friends.

Dr. Taghikhan provides deep sedation for removal of wisdom teeth, implants and all other oral surgery related procedures. He has active privileges at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Gatos and Regional Medical Center in San Jose. He is ACLS, PALS, and BLS certified.
